Please join us in celebrating "A Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols", our annual community carol service, on Saturday 9 December at 6.00 pm!
The service will be held at St Columba's Scottish Presbyterian Church, 1064 Budapest, Vörösmarty utca 51.
To get there: take Metro 1 to the Vörösmarty utca (not tér) stop. Then walk north to the church.
Why this service is so special
-
It is a long-established British tradition that extends back as far as 1918. This is a quintessentially British and fully authentic way to celebrate Christmas.
-
Carols from two leading Budapest choirs -.the Exsultate Boys' Choir from the Zoltán Kodály Music School (leader: Márton Tóth) and the Gabrieli Choir (leader: Márk Szabó) - will be interspersed by nine readings from scripture, prayers, and congregational singing of traditional English and Hungarian carols. The service will also be "book-ended" by a Bach prelude and postlude performed by Philip Saxon (Music Director, St Margaret's Anglican Church) on the keyboard!
-
The church is likely to be packed - it is the musical highlight of the year for many, and you should arrive early to be sure of a good seat!
-
A "feel good factor" is guaranteed. It is a unique occasion with a magic all of its own.
